Jordan: Decline in the health workforce of the public sector

The 2020 annual report of the Department of General Statistics in Jordan showed that the number of workers in the medical and paramedical professions in the public health sector in 2020, witnessed a decrease of 2% that is 16,914 workers compared to 17,188 in 2019.

In this context, the Jordanian Women Solidarity Institute recommended adopting new strategies to help workers with the psychological pressures they witness, especially women, given the peculiar conditions due to COVID-19.

The association called for providing psychological help and financial aid to workers in the health sector, especially women, supporting their participation in medical decision-making positions and positions of scientific and research responsibilities, and developing their skills in dealing with health crises.
