After the negotiations between the Independent Syndicate of Tax Officials and the General Administration of Taxes on the salary increase, the syndicate announced that it is waiting for the approval of some demands including the salary increase.
The National Secretary of the syndicate mentioned to press sources that the ongoing negotiations for a salary increase include 24,000 employees. The negotiations also concern the revision of the Basic Law for Tax Officials and the Compensation Law, in addition to reviewing job ranks, increasing the productivity grant, and approving new compensations.
The workers threatened to stop collecting taxes from merchants and businessmen if their demands will not be met.
