Two weeks ago, the Bahrain Anti-Trafficking Department arrested a network of smugglers who target domestic workers in different regions of the country. An Ethiopian woman, a Bengali man, and seven Ethiopian domestic workers were caught fleeing their workplaces.
On July 26, a Bahraini woman who owns two cleaning services offices was arrested for recruiting and smuggling maids of Sub-Saharan African nationalities to work for her in return for monthly salaries.
