On August 2, by a decision of the factory director, the workers of Tunisia Sugar Company in Bizerte were prevented from joining their workplace.
A trade union source in the factory mentioned in a radio statement that the company’s administration issued a decision to expel 230 workers out of 387. The decision was taken after the workers refused the arbitrary dismissal decision.
The union source added that the company is witnessing problems. The government did not allow the company to promote 30% of its production in the local market as agreed upon. The trade union official considers that the problems the company is undergoing do not justify its decision.
