Municipal officials in seven municipalities in Ariana protested against not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and decided to stop burying people infected with the virus. They, also, protested against not including the burials as extra-working hours.
In a statement to TAP, the mayor of Raouad confirmed that sanitation workers and grave-diggers should be prioritized in the vaccine campaign due to the risks their work implies. The ministry of health did not show any concern to their condition.
It is worth noting that the number of burials due to COVID-19 are increasing (8 to 9 per day). The region recently recorded the burial of 18 victims in one day.
