Morocco has launched exceptional trips to repatriate Moroccan female workers in the Spanish strawberry fields. Morocco had closed the borders after the spread of COVID-19 since March 2020.
During the past week, 1,153 Moroccan female workers, who work between February and June of each year in Huelva, Spain, arrived at the Tangier-Med port in the light of the migration program between the two countries.
Last May, the Moroccan government allowed the return of more than 100 workers from Huelva, due to special social and health conditions.
The International Centre for Crisis Monitoring and Policy Foresight considered Morocco’s decisions beneficial for thousands of women.
