The head of the General Union of Workers in Public Services and Liberal Professions demanded suspending the wage deduction of workers in the tourism sector by 25% since the sector has resumed its usual activities.
The wage deduction has been approved by defence orders to support the sector, as it has been deeply affected by the pandemic. The Social Security Corporation’s “Estidama” program[1] pays 75% of the wage, while the institution pays 25% of the workers’ salaries.
The union described wage deduction as a violation of the workers’ rights. The head of the Public Services and Liberal Professions Syndicate demanded to suspend the wage deduction.
