Morocco will open its maritime borders with Spain exclusively, starting from June 15, for 12,000 Moroccan workers to go to the Spanish region of Huelva to work in the strawberry fields, as part of a special employment program.
According to Spanish media, the process of transporting Moroccan workers will start from the port of Algeciras to the port of Tangiers, with three/four trips per week, on ships that will be chartered by employers in Spain. The workers will pay the price of travel tickets.
It is worth noting that Spain has launched the process of vaccinating Moroccan workers, which will facilitate their transportation. The rest of the workers will have to provide a negative PCR test.
