After a two-days strike, sanitation workers in Casablanca returned to work on June 12th. The strike led to the accumulation of waste in the city. The workers protested against the delay in the payment of their wages, since March 2021.
A member of the National Syndicate of Local Communities in Casablanca, affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CDT), stated that the problem is “a constantly recurrent one.” It is caused by, he mentioned, the conflicts between the council of the local communities and the two companies Averda and Arma.
After the two meetings between the two companies and the syndicate, the protestors returned to work.
