The Jordanian Journalists Syndicate sent a letter to the Parliament calling for the cancellation of the amendment to the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Bill. The syndicate stated that these amendments limit civil liberties, including freedom of press, and affect the role of the media in exposing corruption.
Addendum 10 to Article 16 of the law defines corruption as “spreading false information against any individual or a body of public administration with the intention of achieving a direct or indirect benefit for themselves or others, or ruining a person’s reputation, integrity, or social status.”
The Syndicate argues that the new amendments limit press freedoms and exposing corruption.
