Four trade union leaders from the Souss-Massa have expressed their deep regret and anger at having been deprived of the International Workers Day celebrations because of the preventive measures against the pandemic.
In this regard, they outlined an assessment of the difficult situation of Moroccan workers, particularly those in the tourism and hotel industries and related sectors.
In media statements, the trade unionists affirmed that trade union rights and freedoms are in clear regression and that several workers have been dismissed from their jobs in the face of total indifference of regional and local authorities. They added that the unfair measures taken by employers have affected the lives of workers and their families and that in some sectors, workplaces have been completely closed.
It is worth noting that several leaders of Moroccan trade union centres have declared that this year has been a “black year” for all workers in the country.
