The General Trade Union for Workers in Electricity (GTUWE) of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) announced its solidarity with the president of the trade union committee of the United Cable Industries Company (UCIC) at the United Factories who was arbitrarily dismissed from his work by a decision of the General Administration after publishing a text on WhatsApp criticizing the low wages.
The trade union confirmed in its letter to the company director that all dismissal procedures are in violation of the Jordanian Labour Law and the defence orders that have been approved since the start of COVID-19 in early 2020.
The union concluded its speech by its readiness to exercise its right to a general strike after setting a fourteen-day deadline for the company’s manager to withdraw this decision.
