Egypt: Campaign to Ratify the Anti-violence Convention in the Workplace

An electronic petition to the Egyptian government on the ratification of the Anti-Violence Convention has been launched. The campaign witnessed a large popular participation with a high number of signatures.

Several trade unions and civil society organizations from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen, that are part of the Coalition for the Rights and Dignity of Women, launched the electronic petition parallelly to the meetings of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and the Generation Equality Forum to be held in Mexico.

These organizations are calling on governments to ratify and implement ILO Convention C190 and Recommendation R206, that aim at addressing violence and harassment in the workplace, including gender-based violence and harassment.
