On April 25 and 26, education workers and teachers went on strike in all Algerian governorates to protest against the ministry’s indifference to their demands.
The labour union for Education called for this strike under the slogan “The Dignity Strike,” with the aim of breaking the Ministry of Education’s silence towards the demands and concerns of workers in the sector.
Protestors demanded an increase in the value of the index point from 45 to 60 Algerian dinars, an increase in the performance bonus, paying workers who did not receive their salaries in months, and cancelling contracts to replace them with direct employment. They also called for raising social insurance to 100%.
The strike was successful in all the governorates.
