Algeria: The Syndicalist Mourad Ghadia is Under Arrest

The syndicalist in the National Autonomous Union of Public Administrative Staff (SNAPAP), Mourad Ghadia has been under arrest by Algerian judicial authorities for the second week in a row on charges of incitement to assemble and impersonation parallelly to a strike by the officers of law enforcement, according to his lawyer.

 

The arrest of Mourad Ghadia was accompanied by a solidarity campaign. He is awaiting his case in the court to face the charges that has been described as weak and will possibly lead to his release.

 

The popular movement calling for a democratic system based on freedoms has continued in Algeria since 2019. The Algerian authorities promised to draft the constitutional amendments accordingly.

 

It is worth noting that Mourad Ghadia was suspended from work from 2012 to 2015 and from 2018 until now.
