Tunisia: TAP employees contest the appointment of the new CEO

Journalists, technicians, and agents of the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency (TAP) announced a strike on 22 April 2021. The strike was decided by the office of the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) and the union of TAP agents and executives, under the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT).

The two unions called for the strike following the appointment of the journalist Kamel Ben Younes as head of the agency. This appointment was denounced by the employees who said that the new CEO has held suspicious positions throughout his career.

TAP employees have threatened to continue their protests if the government does not appoint a new CEO on the basis of competence and neutrality.
