Morocco: Strike and Week of Rage of Contractual Professors

Moroccan contractual professors, after regional protests, went to the capital, Rabat, where they organized a national march. Their demands include improvement of their conditions through the termination of their contracts for tenure.

The march was suppressed with violence which provoked a coordination between the National Federation of Education, the Free Federation of Education, and the National Union for Education participated. This solidarity was embodied in the formation of a tripartite union coordinating body in charge of the protests of contractual professors and defending their demands especially after the use of violence in the national march on March 19 in Rabat.

In this context, the Coordination Committee decided to carry out a national strike on March 23 and organize protests in front of the headquarters of the regional academies of education on March 25 with the red badge being carried for a week, starting from the same day.

The three unions held the Ministry and the Government responsible for the situation. They, also, announced organizing meetings with the National Council for Human Rights and with the Presidents of both Houses of the Parliament.
