On March 11th, a massive fire broke out in a textile factory in Obour causing the death of 20 workers and injuring 24 others.
Primary investigations indicated that the fire was caused by gas being leaked from chemicals in the warehouse of the factory leading to a huge explosion.
The House of Trade Union Services stated that this fire is not an exception but was preceded by similar incidents due to the failure of the manpower offices in their role in supervision to ensure occupational safety and health in the workplace.
