The Lebanese NGO Amal has launched a new humanitarian initiative in favour of foreign workers who have been affected by the economic and sanitary crisis.
According to the president of the NGO, this new initiative consists in organising the return of workers wishing to leave Lebanon by collaborating with their respective embassies and providing them with the necessary travel documents and PCR tests.
He also announced that the NGO is providing financial assistance to the workers to help them pay their rent, as well as providing them with the necessary food and sanitary products. He added that the organisation is, also, negotiating with the Ministry of Health to ensure that foreign workers have access to the vaccine.
Amal's president said that this initiative was prompted by the deteriorating situation of foreign workers due to the economic crisis and the collapse of the national currency, which has led several employers to stop paying in dollars, resulting in great losses for foreign workers.
