The economic crisis caused by the pandemic have impacted the spinning, weaving, and garment factories making its workers fear the risk of unemployment.
The authorities took measures including paying workers through the social security program similarly to clothing manufacturers in Kerak of Aljamal Wal Fulk. However, by the end of this period, about 1,550 workers will be facing dismissal.
The General Union of Workers in the Textile Industry warned about the closing of factories and the decreased investments in the sector mentioning that 18,000 workers in this sector may be facing dismissals as the authorities and all the concerned parties did not suggest any solutions to the problems the sector has been witnessing.
