About 850 nurses and health workers from White Nile hospitals protested against the governor of the region’s indifference to the demands they submitted two months ago. These demands include a reduction in the workload and an increase in the ‘infection’ bonus. The protesters gave the governor 48 hours to respond to their demands.
The representative of the sit-in committee explained that they submitted demands to the Ministry of Health to grant them an allowance for work clothes, reduce the amount of work, and allowing them access to compensations for the pandemic. Their demands, also, included, providing transportation for workers, recruiting the arbitrarily dismissed workers, and increasing the wages of short-term workers. The Ministry of Health did not respond to any of these demands.
