Mauritania: A Workshop Prohibited Dangerous Jobs for Children

On Tuesday, March 9th, Nouakchott organized a regional workshop limiting dangerous jobs for children, with the participation of the Ministry of Public Employment and Labour and Modernization of Administration, the International Labour Office (ILO), the National Union of Mauritanian Workers, and representatives of the regional administrations in the three governorates of Nouakchott, trade unions, and civil society.

The Minister of Public Service, Labour, and the Modernization of the Administration stated that monitoring the observance of international labour standards and national legislation to combat child labour has remained a constant focus of the ongoing reforms in the country. He recalled that Mauritania had ratified the International Labour Convention No. 138 (minimum age convention) and the International Labour Convention No. 182 (worst forms of child labour convention).
