Iraq: The Death of Three Workers due to the Absence of Occupation Health and Safety Measures

Three workers died while cleaning sewage networks in Karbala Governorate, due to inhaling methane gas. These three workers lost their lives as a result of the absence of the needed equipment.

This tragedy angered human rights activists who condemned the lack of safety and security measures in the workplace and the failure to provide these workers with protective clothing and equipment needed to protect them from work accidents.

They reminded that this accident was not the first, but was preceded by similar ones in which workers and even children were killed due to negligence, holding the local authorities responsible for that.
