The Center for Trade Union & Workers’ Services (CTUWS) announced its solidarity with the workers of the Spinning & Weaving Company in Alexandria who were arbitrarily dismissed from work and demanded that the workers get their rights and the compensation they deserve.
THE CTUWS accused the administration during which the company was sold of oppressing the workers’ rights and demanded a review of the terms of the deal concluded in 1998.
A union source stated that the company’s management had exerted pressure on the workers, through an arbitrary dismissal of 230 workers, and offering the rest a small sum not exceeding their wage to compel the remaining 177 workers to leave the company and seek work elsewhere.
