A report issued by the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) in Jordan revealed that human trafficking cases that were investigated in 2019 reached 205 cases, including 155 labour ones.
According to the report, 13 of them were transferred to Public Prosecution, with 9 victims, and 28 perpetrators. 97 victims were sheltered in various organizations.
The report devoted to reviewing the human rights situation in Jordan during the year 2019 indicated that the Jordanian Ministry of Labour looked into 621 complaints of domestic workers and took measures against labour recruitment agencies that violated the law.
After mentioning accidents that took the lives of workers, the report insisted that any new legislation should include provisions aiming at protecting workers from human trafficking crimes.
