Lebanon: Meeting of the Executive Office of FENASOL to Discuss the Living and Health Conditions in the Country

The executive office of the National Federation of Employees’ and Workers’ Union (FENASOL) organized a meeting to discuss various issues including the health conditions and problems caused by Covid-19 including loose security and social disruption, and food and medicine theft and monopoly.

The statement criticized the official bodies and ministries concerned about its inefficiency in protecting the citizens and their rights in having a normal access to food and its negligence towards them.

The Union also called for the formation of a “national rescue government” that will provide a national political, economic, and social plan to recover the stolen money, provide medicine and health care services for everyone, and ensure social and health protection funds.

They, also, called for the payment of direct assistance to workers, the unemployed, and people with difficult economic conditions since the Lebanese have been deeply affected by the economic crisis caused by the pandemic.

The meeting was concluded by inviting the workers, particularly low-income workers, to be ready for upcoming social protests for their rights.
