Tunisia is witnessing many strikes in different sectors and facilities. Because of the cleaning workers’ strike since last Thursday, Kairouan too is witnessing a state of tension among its residents.
The cleaning workers started their strike because they did not receive their ‘nightly’ bonus from the municipality.
One of the workers stated that the municipality deprived workers of their evening wages during the night work hours, and decided to grant them three hours instead of seven without taking into account the difficult social conditions of these workers.
