The Amman Criminal Court issued a decision was made to close the Jordanian Teachers Syndicate which was denounced by many Jordanian civil society organizations and associations as they considered it an escalation by the government in its arbitrary measures taken against this union. The Jordanian civil society asked the government to put an end to this approach. Anti-unionism activists recalled, in this regard, that the Jordanian constitution guarantees freedom of opinion and expression and the freedom to unionize in order to defend the rights of workers in a legally established union.
The civil society in Jordan noted that the government's actions go the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (OHCHR).
