An online survey conducted by an international company specializing in virus control revealed that half of the women working in the technology sector believe that the sanitary crisis has prevented their professional advancement, while half of the working men in the same sector believe that remote work offers gender equality.
The study, which included 13 thousand people from 19 countries, also showed that nearly a third of the number of women working the technology sector prefer to remote work. A similar number of women believe that they work more efficiently when working from home. Also, 33 % of them said they feel more independent thanks to remote work.
However, this survey showed that women in the technology sector, on an international level, working from home could not make any social progress, since March 2020, because they still encounter a difficulty in balancing professional and domestic life due to the still existing gap in gender equality.
Accordingly, 50% of women mentioned that COVID-19 was an obstacle to their professional progress. According to the survey, 41% of women in the technology sector (compared to 34% of men) confirmed that an equality-based work environment can encourage a professional progress and 46% of women believed that remote work can, also, encourage gender equality.
