On February 17, 2021, the Labour and Social Affairs Committee of the Iraqi Parliament held a meeting to study a new bill for the retirement law in Iraq in the presence of representatives of Iraqi trade unions.
In this meeting, the committee listened to the views of Iraqi trade union representatives and their proposals related to the new bill. They, also, discussed ways to support workers’ rights. Trade unions stressed that this bill should conform to international labour laws measures, especially Convention No. 102 and Recommendation No. 202 of the International Labour Organization (ILO), as well as ensuring the acquired rights of Iraqi workers.
The union delegation presented to the parliamentary committee a document containing its observations and proposals related to the draft law.
