Labour unions in Lebanon rejected the government's decision to raise the prices of bread and fuel, considering this decision only the beginning to removing subsidies on basic commodities.
The Lebanese government raised the issue of controlling support for basic materials to face the economic and financial crisis the country is going through.
Lebanese trade union organizations, represented by the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers and the National Federation of Trade and Employees' Unions, have called on the Ministry of Economy and Trade not to lift subsidies on bread and fuel, holding the government responsible for the poor conditions of citizens and the high unemployment rate.
