The General Union of Transportation Workers in Hebron decided to enter a strike of collective taxi drivers on Sunday, February 14, 2020, to protest against the difficult conditions in the light of the emergency state and lockdowns after the spread of COVID-19.
The union declared in a statement that it informed the government of the difficult situation of the workers but to no avail. Collective taxi drivers were, therefore, deprived of many decisions taken by the government in other regions, including the 15% reduction in insurance costs.
The authorities, however, totally ignored private taxis who continued their usual work despite the state of emergency.
