Egypt: The Rights of Textile Workers are in Question

Members of Parliament to the Minister of Trade and Industry raise questions about the fate of workers in textile factories, most of which have been closed since 2011. These workers have lost their source of income. The Pensions and Insurance Law has forfeited their rights in the private sector. The textile industry in Egypt is one of the most important industries, which depends on a large number of workers in the agricultural sector to grow cotton.

Members of Parliament called on businessmen to support these industries, provide academies to train workers, and provide them with modern machinery as farmers suffer from many difficulties and do not have machines for collecting cotton which will force them abandon their cultivation, which according to them became unprofitable.
