Imider miners announced that they will go on general strike for twenty-four hours next Wednesday. Their demands came in a statement by the National Energy Syndicate of Democratic Confederation of Labour to ask for better working conditions in the spread of Covid-19.
The statement showed the effects of the pandemic on the safety and health of the workers through the rates of infections and deaths among them and their families in addition to the poor working conditions.
The statement adds that the strike came as a result to the cancellation of the annual bonus, the breech of the collective agreement, and ignoring the workers’ role in these exceptional work conditions.
The syndicate office asks the company’s administration to immediately settle the annual bonus problem without any delay. The syndicate holds the company responsible for what might happen in the mine and for the tension it may cause.
