Parallel to their sit-in, the workers of Ghazl Kafr el-Dawwar organized several protest marches against the demolition of the factory and the surrounding housing for the construction of a new residential project.
In the last two days, the workers have organized large protest marches in which they have affirmed their attention to oppose this demolition project. Several MPs have intervened to try to put an end to these protests.
The deputies' interventions were severely criticized by the strikers, who explained that these elected officials do not care about the future of the families who depend on the factory's activities.
In this context, the workers declared that their protests will continue until a fair and just solution is found. They also revealed that several parties are seeking to end the sit-in by calling on the workers to resign in order to receive their wages.
Several workers from Delta company of Talkha and the state-owned enterprises of El-Mahalla El-Koubra and Kom Hamada organized protests in solidarity with the workers of Ghazl Kafr el-Dawwar.
For its part, the Office of Trade Union Services expressed its solidarity with the workers and called on officials to speak clearly on the future of the company and to initiate a dialogue with representatives of all workers of public works enterprises on the future of the sector in Egypt.
