The ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development put new conditions concerning the new decisions of the cancellation of punishing job quitting and the new reforms of the Kafala System.
The Kafala system will be replaced by a new system that would define the conditions of cancelling the work contract between each worker and his employer. The kingdom aims at creating a work atmosphere that encourages a better work productivity.
New rules have been established for employers in case a worker quits their work. Employers can write a report on deportation to cancel the work contract following the next steps:
- The employer or the representative can go to the Administration of Expatriates Affairs that has offices everywhere in the kingdom.
- Sending a written request to cancel the previous demand.
- Contacting the Administration Expatriate Affairs if more information related to expatriate workers is needed.
The Ministry of Interior had set a fine of 2,000 riyals for the employer, while the report on the ‘leak’ was cancelled one week after it has been introduced. Confirming the decision, however, did not come up from the Shura Council.
