The Trade Union Committee of Iron and Steel Workers calls for a protest on January 10th, the day before the company’s general meeting to discuss the unified regulation for the construction sector. The Committee calls for the preservation and consolidation of the Iron and Steel Society.
The Metal Industries Holding Company decided to separate the mines and quarries from the mother company, (Iron and Steel Society in Al Tbin) which made the workers worry about the future of their company.
The committee mentioned that the unifying regulation was rejected by 270 thousand workers of the public works sector. Others say that iron and steel are in different situations and that there is a plan to develop the sector. It is, also, claimed that the development plan is being left out and, hence, the separation between the mines and quarries and the mother company proves the attack against the latter.
One of the workers in the company said that the workers reject the entire unified regulation and, particularly, the clause which stipulates that the workers will be compensated on the basis of their basic salary at the rate of one month's salary for each year worked, which represents a clear violation of their rights.
