One of the Delta fertilizers factory’s workers, in Talkha of the Dakahlia Governorate, said that security forces arrested 4 members of the trade union committee along with 5 workers.
The worker, who preferred to stay anonymous, said that the workers will continue the strike despite the ministry’s decision to relocate the factory to Suez.
He adds “all we want is the release of our colleagues by the ministry of interior. We have only protested. We did not commit a crime. Our colleagues are not terrorists.” He concludes saying: “we want a sovereign intervention to solve our problem.”
The ministry of Public Works published a report on relocating the Talkha Fertilizer Company to Suez for ecological reasons. The ministry insists that it respects the workers’ rights by either providing alternatives or relocating some workers to the developed factory of El-Nasr for Fertilizers & Chemical Industries Co. depending on the administration’s needs.
