Algeria: death of 140 health workers by Covid-19

The Minister of Health Abderrahmane Ben Bouzid revealed that 140 health sector workers died from Covid-19.

During a hearing session at the Council of State, the minister explained that health sector professionals have sacrificed themselves to fight against the spread of the coronavirus and that it cost the lives of 140 of them.

Abderrahmane Ben Bouzid added that from the beginning of the pandemic, the authorities have given top priority to the protection of health workers. For his part, the President of the Republic granted a monthly bonus to all agents.

Regarding the national strategy to fight against Covid-19, the minister said that the authorities have provided 18 thousand beds to various hospitals in the country and that they have intensified recruitment so that all patients can be taken care of.
