Workers of the Delta company for fertilizer and chemical industries in the city of Talkha, Dakahlia governorate, continue their sit-in for the 11th consecutive day. The workers are protesting against the liquidation of the company or its transfer to the governorate of Suez.
In this context, the chemist, vice-president of the Workers Union of Egypt and president of the General Union of Chemical Workers, Imed Hamdi, said the pretext of environmental pollution by the company has been officially refuted by the Ministry of Environment.
In a statement granted to the newspaper 'Dostor', Imed Hamdi added that the transfer of the company to the governorate of Suez is tantamount to liquidating the company to be able to exploit its land in another activity. The union leader said that such a decision will jeopardize the future of 2,500 families who depend on the company's activities in the city of Talkha.
