The President of the General Union of Workers in Liberal Professions and General Services sent a letter to the Minister of Labour and the Secretary of State for Investment Affairs on 6 December 2020, calling on them to speed up the publication of the list of sectors most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in order to protect the rights of workers and employees. The President of the union applauded the government's programmes to alleviate the impact of Covid-19 on economic sectors.
In his letter, the union leader pointed out that workers in the catering, tourism, hotel and beauty salon sectors now receive 75% of their wages subject to social security instead of the 50% that was in force, enabling them to support themselves.
