Residents and workers in Jendouba governorate participated in a protest rally organized by the Regional Labor Union. The protesters called for the implementation of all the decisions issued by the various ministerial councils between 2015 and 2019 to establish a real development plan for all regions and delegations of the governorate.
They called in this context for the implementation of the decisions taken during the meeting held on October 3, 2020 at the headquarters of the governorate. Decisions were taken on the settlement of bank debts and irrigation water for farmers, the establishment of compensation for damaged farmers, the development of radical solutions for milk and sugar production, the encouragement of the creation of industrial processing units, the financing of small and medium enterprises for the benefit of young people and the construction of 3,000 housing units throughout the governorate (to replace old houses).
For its part, the Regional Labour Union announced the success of the strike, saying that businesses of various sizes and public enterprises have complied with it. The secretary general of the trade union said that Jendouba will always defend its right to development, dignified life and work.
It is worthy to note that several Tunisian governorates are experiencing strikes. In Kasserine, the protesters closed the valve of the Douleb oil field following the failure of negotiations between the Tunisian authorities and the oil company that manages the field's production.
