Fifty out of a total of 850 garbage collectors in the Gaza Strip have contracted the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.
Having an essential role in the fight against the spread of the virus, garbage collectors are responsible for sterilising quarantine centres, public hospitals, specialised units, schools, hotels and intensive care units, among other things. Despite all these dangerous tasks, the garbage collectors have continued to support the medical teams and have never failed in their missions.
