Lebanon: Strike of teachers in charge of distance education

The Committee of Teachers in charge of distance education at the afternoon sessions issued a statement explaining that they will no longer remain silent and that they will claim their pay as soon as possible.

The Committee also called for justice for all teachers (teachers, supervisors, principals, cleaners and janitors) and recalled that so far the authorities have not kept any of their promises.

In this context, the Committee announced a general strike in all schools in Lebanon. The strike will take effect from Monday and will continue until all teachers are paid for a full year's work. The strikers are also demanding an increase of 2,000 Lebanese pounds for each session explaining that this increase will allow them to face the economic situation of the country.

The statement also called on the authorities to set a deadline for the payment provided that it is really respected.
