Egypt: Delta Company workers protest

Workers of the Delta company for fertilisers and chemical industries organised a protest rally on Sunday 6 December 2020 to oppose the decision of the head of government and the Minister of the Environment on the closure of the urea production unit.

During their rally, the workers also denounced the closure of the plant's activities and the freezing of their wages which has been going on for eight months. The protesters severely criticised government officials whom they accused of corruption, calling on the President of the Republic to intervene to save the factory and their professional future.

For his part, the head of government explained that the company has been given two months to regularise its environmental situation. He assured that he intended to preserve all the rights of the workers.
