With the participation of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, the companies participating in the Corporate Winter Inspection Campaign launched “the Construction Sector Inspection Campaign in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate.”
The kick-off was given from the headquarters of the Ministry of Labour in Beitunia in the presence of the mayor of the Al-Bireh municipality, who also represented the other partner municipalities (Ramallah, Surda, Abu Qash and Bir Zeit), the director of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Labour Office, the treasurer of the Federation in Ramallah and representatives of the police and civil defence.
Following the press conference, the executives of the companies participating in the campaign made visits to the buildings and quarries in the governorate where they noted several violations on the construction sites. The majority of these violations involve non-compliance with occupational safety and health measures by employers who also do not follow the health protocol put in place by the appropriate ministry to contain the spread of Covid-19.
