The National Tourism Union, part of the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CDT), held a protest rally last Tuesday against the privatization of hotel training centres.
The National Office of the Union has denounced this decision and the resulting measures that undermine the missions and role of these centres and their employees. The Union stated that this project does not aim to link hotel training to the labour market and that it “will limit the ambition of Moroccan youth, negate the experience and expertise accumulated by these institutions and limit their contribution to the development of tourism”.
In a statement, the National Office stated that the project seeks to privatize these centres for the benefit of certain individuals and called on the Minister of Tourism to initiate an accountable and transparent dialogue on all measures governing this privatization in order to guarantee the continuity of these centres and the rights of their employees.
