Morocco: Spain reduces the number of seasonal strawberry fields

The Spanish government has announced that employment contracts for Moroccan seasonal workers working in the new strawberry fields will be reduced by 30%.

According to the Spanish news agency, seasonal workers were selected last year to work for the first time on the Huelva fields. Other local media reported that Madrid is holding discussions with Morocco about the upcoming agricultural season and new agricultural recruitments. According to the same sources, Spain is also working with other countries to compensate for a possible shortage of Moroccan labour.
