The Syrian newspaper Al Fida reported that one of the members of the Hama City Council had lifted the veil on a major case of corruption and embezzlement estimated at hundreds of millions of pounds.
The source indicated that the case dates back to 2013 when Board members began to misappropriate wages and bonuses from garbage collectors. Embezzlements by officials of the Department of Finance who are currently in hiding. The city of Hama is controlled by the forces of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
