Hundreds of members of the Moroccan Workers’ Union (MWU) accompanied by political activists, Trade unionists and civil society organized a large rally to prevent the confiscation of the headquarters of the trade union center of Oued Zem for the benefit of an individual while legal proceedings are still ongoing.
Several representatives of organizations in solidarity with the MWU took the floor during this gathering followed by Secretary-General Miloudi Moukharik from Casablanca. They had to face two attempts to confiscate the offices and reacted with rigor and discipline despite the multiple provocations that sought to lead to a security intervention. The police were also present around the headquarters of the MWU throughout the gathering.
At the end of the demonstration, a meeting was held inside the headquarters to thank all the participants and to pay tribute to the activists of trade union offices, local and regional unions and bodies in solidarity with the MWU. For their part, the members of the MWU regional office spent their second night at the headquarters of their plant to maintain surveillance.
